What are we looking for?

Two Production Managers to plan for and deliver LEEDS 2023 cultural projects, inputting from an early stage on the budget forecasting and operational planning of multiple events and activities before taking a lead, active role Production Managing each in delivery. To work with the Senior Production Manager and Head of Production in the implementation of LEEDS 2023 systems and processes across the projects.

 

Purpose of the role:

  • Provide Production Management support across several projects during planning phases through to, and including, delivery. Projects include 12 Signature Events of scale throughout 2023, as well as various smaller live event projects and activity working across LEEDS 2023 teams.

  • Produce and maintain detailed production budgets, schedules and plans for assigned projects working closely with the LEEDS 2023 Creative Team and any applicable external artists, partners and stakeholders.

  • Oversee external freelancers, contractors and suppliers in their appointment and delivery of services at events
     
  • Collaborate across multiple teams within LEEDS 2023 including Visitor Experience, Marketing, Ticketing, and Creative Learning and Engagement amongst others

 

Key Responsibilities:

Production and Technical Management

  • Production manage LEEDS 2023 signature projects from project kick-off to delivery as allocated, ensuring the highest production standards are maintained throughout and adopting high levels of command and responsibility.

  • Have a solid understanding of Health & Safety in order to produce all relevant and applicable paperwork, such as risk assessments or event safety management plans for projects.

  • Create and maintain effective project schedules and timelines, working within the LEEDS 2023 project management software

  • Responsible for ensuring statutory and legal compliance on assigned projects, including health and safety, licensing, and accessibility amongst other areas.

  • Schedule and run builds, fit-ups, performances and de-rigs for signature projects and other activity.

  • Appoint, instruct and supervise contractors, suppliers and freelancers on specific projects, including Project Production Managers where applicable, acting as their first point of contact

  • Liaise with colleagues from other teams within LEEDS 2023 on plans and requirements for projects.

  • Provide advice to Producers during the feasibility and initial planning stages of projects where necessary.

  • With support from the wider Production Team, input and deliver on the Sustainability Action Plan and apply workings to all allocated projects.

  • Work with the Access & Inclusion Officer to ensure projects increase audiences to cultural activity, including from those facing barriers.

  • With support from the wider Production Team ensure allocated projects are delivered in accordance with the applicable organisational policies, ensuring that the correct provisions, checks and compliance are embedded into development of the project.

  • Work closely with the Visitor Experience Team to ensure a safe, secure and high-quality audience journey to and from the events from planning through to delivery.

  • Convene and chair production meetings as required.

  • Report to Senior Production Manager.

Finance and Budgeting

 

  • Manage project production budgets, forecasting spends in the early phases and reporting on any variances to the Senior Production Manager and Head of Production. Stakeholders
  • Communicate with external stakeholders and attend or present at meetings, such as Safety Advisory Groups, as required.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with LEEDS 2023 key suppliers, funders and partners. Experience:
  • Production Management or similar experience in artistic or cultural events setting.
  • Delivering projects across multiple artforms, such as theatre, outdoor arts, public arts, festivals.
  • Qualifications in project management, health and safety, performing arts or events are desirable.

Skills:

Budget and project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of the production, operational and technical skills for delivering artistic projects in a range of settings, including the public realm, multi-site events and established venues.

Understanding of health and safety legislation in an artistic or events context.

Proficient in the use of Office 365 and desirable for skills in other software packages such as CAD packages, Adobe Creative suite.
